Our 8th grade artists have just completed a unit exploring unexpected art-related careers, culminating in a project where students designed their own dream five-tier cakes, inspired by culinary arts.
 
Local baker, Kate Schultz, selected a winning design and joined us this afternoon to discuss the artistic skills involved in cake design, revealed the winning student creation, and shared the finished cake with us.
