SCREENING: Hearing and vision screening will start the week of October 12 for students in grades 5 and 7 and all new students. Remind your student to bring and wear their glasses everyday. If you have any concerns about hearing and vision screening, please contact our District Nurse, Mrs. McKoon at mckoons@perry-lake.org.
MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAY: PMS Drama Club is excited to announce auditions for this year’s play, Finding Nemo Jr.! Our play will be held February 5, 6 and 7, 2027 this year. Our pre-audition workshop will be held on October 28 from 3-5pm in the PMS Chorus Room. Tech applications will be due by November 4, 2026. Auditions will be on November 4 after school and callbacks by invitation only on November 5. There will be a sign-up for 30-minute audition slots available through Google Classroom. Students in grades 5 - 8 who are interested in being a part of the cast or crew should join the Google Classroom using the code: q7aeplno.
PIRATES FOR A PURPOSE: Welcome Home Baskets: Considering supporting a You Design It PHS student hosting this fundraiser to raise money for Extended Housing and help create “Welcome Home” baskets filled with everyday essentials for individuals moving into permanent, supportive housing. Order deadline is November 6; orders will be delivered before Thanksgiving break to help you get in the holiday spirit and be ready for gift giving! ORDER
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR INFO: MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK FAIR - OCTOBER 26 - 30, 2026
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: Costumes will be permitted to be worn in school on Friday, October 30. Please NO scary costumes, NO masks, NO costumes with blood and NO blow-up costumes also NO accessories that include weapons such as knives, guns, etc. Thank you for your cooperation.
HALLOWEEN JAIL THE TEACHER FUNDRAISER: On Friday, October 30, students will be in costume, so why not make it a day of fun? Our Student Council Jail the Teacher fundraiser gives students the chance to “arrest” a teacher or principal and put them in a temporary, mock “jail.”
Here’s how it works:
- While a teacher is in “jail,” students get a free period to enjoy Halloween games (in the gym).
- The amount of time a teacher spends in jail is based on the money their class raises (e.g., one minute in jail for every dollar raised).
- Teachers count the money before serving their jail time.
- Teachers may also post bail once during the booking period, but it must be at a higher rate than the amount raised—this allows them to end their jail time early if they choose.
All funds raised will go toward honoring and celebrating students on a later date! Thanks for helping make this a fun and memorable day for our students!
PERRY READS AT PERRY PUBLIC LIBRARY: We are partnering with Perry Middle School to promote literacy skills in tweens and teens. Middle schoolers are encouraged to come with their families and friends to these drop-in programs; snacks will be provided. Learn how the library can help you and build connections with your community!
Tuesday, October 20 from 7-8 PM: Create a cool monster bookmark and then check out some spooky books!
Tuesday, November 24 from 7-8 PM: Drop in to make book themed pins with our button press.
Tuesday, December 15 from 7-8 PM: Winter Reading Bingo Kickoff - Stop by for some cookies and pick up a bingo sheet! Completed sheets can be entered in a prize drawing.
